Mohs Technician – Vadnais Heights

The Mohs Technician is a vital member of the Mohs surgery clinical team. Responsibilities include processing tissue specimens using optimal tissue handling techniques, multi-tasking and safety compliance. The Mohs Histotech collaborates with the physician and the physician’s nursing team to provide quality patient care and service. This individual will work at multiple locations.

Duties:

  • Prepare for the day’s activities by setting up cryostat, stainer and supplies
  • Receive and assign specimens, label slides
  • Embed and cut tissue, place on slides
  • Stain slides and cover slip slides for physician’s review
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment, instruments and machines including cryostat and stainer
  • Maintain and order lab supplies
  • Ensure CLIA compliance
  • Use Electronic Health Record system to document clinical information regarding the surgical procedure
  • Other clinical, administrative and safety duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • HS diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a histology, medical assisting or practical nursing program or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in histology or dermatology medical assisting/nursing
  • HT (ASCP) and/or HTL (ASCP) or CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT) or LPN desired
  • Demonstrated ability or experience with tissue processing
  • Familiarity of histology preferred
  • Ability to perform close up or small detail work
  • Knowledge of CLIA regulations
  • Ability to use Electronic Health Record system
  • Ability to work at multiple locations
