Facts about the ellacor® System with Micro-Coring™ technology

What is this treatment and what is it used for?

The ellacor® System with Micro-Coring™ technology is the first of its kind device that removes thousands of microscopic plugs which then close on their own causing the skin to contract and tighten. Ellacor can remove up to 8% of the treated skin at a time without leaving any scars.

How many treatments are needed and when do you start to see benefits?

1-3 treatments are performed for optimal results depending on the initial degree of loose skin.

Who will be performing the treatment?

Your dermatologist.

How long does a treatment take?

Treatment time will vary depending on the surface area treated but typically will range from 20-45 minutes. Because it takes time to numb up the treated areas with both topical and injectable anesthetic, plan to spend around 2-3 hours in the clinic.

Does the treatment hurt?

Ellacor treatments can be uncomfortable so topical and injectable anesthetic will be used before the procedure.

What do I look like right after and how much down time is there?

Immediately after Ellacor, the skin will look bright pink like a sunburn with pinpoint bleeding. Some bruising and swelling are also common. Expect 5-7 days of social downtime as the skin heals.

What are the possible side effects?

Discomfort, redness, and bruising, swelling, tightness and peeling are common effects.  Very rarely, treatments could lead to a cold sore reactivation (in patients prone to cold sores) or other infection, granuloma formation (small bumps under the skin), color change (lighter or darker) or scarring. Men may notice a slight decrease in facial hair which may be permanent.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Avoid all non-essential blood thinners for 2 weeks prior. Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores in the treatment area. Avoid any other facial treatments for 2 weeks prior to the treatment. Do not smoke as this impairs wound healing.

What is the aftercare?

Keep the skin well hydrated with hyaluronic acids and fragrance-free moisturizers. Apply a physical sunscreen with SPF30 or higher to treated areas and avoid abrasive topicals or treatments for 7 days. Avoid swimming, hot tubs and saunas for 3 days after the procedure.
