Treating Skin Redness and Visible Veins at Dermatology Consultants

Uneven skin tone, including excessive and persistent skin redness and visible veins like varicose or spider veins, can strike a major blow to confidence in our appearance. Fortunately at Dermatology Consultants we are experienced at evening skin tone and pigmentation with highly effective and safe laser treatments.

Causes of persistent skin redness include conditions like rosacea, where the skin is regularly inflamed and pink or red in hue. Lasers are an excellent treatment option for this type of long-lasting redness. Temporary forms of redness such as an allergic reaction should go away on their own or with the help of oral and topical medicines and do not require laser treatment. To determine if your skin redness can be treated with lasers, consult with one of our Board-certified dermatologists.

Visible veins like varicose or spider veins are caused by a number of factors but are most commonly associated with aging. Varicose veins usually appear on the legs and are swollen blood vessels that twist and turn under the skin. Spider veins are common on the legs and face, and are smaller than varicose veins, and may be red, blue or purple in appearance.

We offer two types of lasers that are especially good for treating skin redness and visible veins: Pulsed Dye laser and Excel V.

Pulsed Dye laser safely and effectively treats rosacea, spider veins, red spots (angiomas) and even port wine stains and birthmarks. Pulsed Dye laser is ideal for skin discoloration, whereas the Excel V laser is geared more toward treating visible veins.

The Excel V is a state-of-the-art laser treatment for visible veins like varicose and spider veins. As the laser light is absorbed by the visible veins, the veins are steadily reabsorbed into the body as part of the natural healing process stimulated by the laser. This pulls the veins away from the surface of the skin and reduces their visibility.
