Dry skin can be very frustrating but there are things you can do to improve the quality and texture of your skin. Most important is regular application of a quality moisturizer. Choose one that is fragrance free and a cream base rather than a lotion.  Applying the moisturizer within 2-3 minutes after bathing can help lock in moisture to your skin. Use a fragrance free gentle soap and minimize soap exposure only to areas that require it such as armpits and underwear regions. Avoiding any irritants such as hot water, wool, and animal dander can also be helpful. Rarely dry skin is caused by something specific like an allergy, a medication, or a systemic condition that our dermatologists can help diagnose and manage.

You will always see a doctor.
