New Legislation Allows More Coverage for Online Dermatology Visits

Recent policy changes at the federal level enable select Medicare patients to submit their online dermatology visits for reimbursement.

Medicare is expanding coverage for certain telehealth visit types including dermatology.  The Telehealth Services During Certain Emergency Periods Act of 2020  enacted on March 6, 2020, as part of the Coronavirus supplemental appropriations package, eliminates obstacles to receiving care through the DermatologistOnCall portal for many of your Medicare-beneficiary patients.

Online dermatology (teledermatology) visits mirror in-office appointments and are flexible. Online visits make access to an expert skin doctor easy, fast and convenient. After submitting a case through our online platform, we strongly encourage all patients to follow the required steps with their respective insurers and file a claim for reimbursement.
